About Heritable

Hi I'm Patrick Metzger, founder and CEO of Heritable.

I started building Heritable in 2025 after I ran into the problem that undoubtedly brought many of you here. My family had a ton of photos, home movies, and letters digitized, even books written by our ancestors, but we had nowhere to put it all that we trusted, that was user-friendly, that wouldn't use our data for advertising or AI training, and that didn't require painstaking abstract folder schemas.

I wanted a "Shared Archive"—one central place where I could upload everything (terabytes of data, not just gigabytes), tag the relatives involved, and give access to my extended family so the history doesn't depend on just me.

I couldn't find it, so I built Heritable.

I’ve spent my career leading the creation of digital tools that millions of people rely on every day. I’ve poured that same level of technical rigor and care into Heritable to ensure it isn't just another cloud storage folder, but a reliable, well-crafted home for your family’s legacy.
